Short answer

When one side of a Wolf hood's lights stays dark, start with the bulbs on that side: a halogen handled with bare fingers fails early, and an LED fitted to an older hood may light only on the High setting. One side dark, the other lit

A Wolf pro hood runs all its lights from the left-hand knob under the front edge: left for Low, right for High. With one side lit and the other dark, the knob is clearly doing part of its job, so the fault usually sits between it and the dark bulbs. Most often that means the bulbs themselves, and Wolf names one reason a halogen dies early: oil from bare fingers shortens its life.

Where the installation comes in

Wolf’s earlier pro hood guide describes halogen lighting with two settings; the current one lists LED lighting and GU10 bulbs. In an older Issaquah kitchen, the generation of the hood decides which bulb belongs in each socket.

What the visit covers

With the hood off at its breaker, we test the dark side’s sockets and the connections feeding them, check the light control on both settings, and refit bulbs of the type and wattage Wolf lists.

Before you book

Try both light settings. If the dark side lights on High but not on Low, and it holds LED bulbs, that matches Wolf's note about LEDs in older hoods rather than a failed part.

With the lights off and the bulbs cool, move a bulb from the working side to the dark side. Use the suction-cup changer Wolf supplies with pro hoods, and wear gloves as Wolf advises.

Match any replacement to what came out: Wolf's pro hoods take GU10 bulbs, and Wolf does not suggest anything above the wattage it lists.

Is it safe to leave one side of the lights out for a while?

Generally, yes, if the dark side just stays dark. Switch the lights off and leave that side alone if a socket buzzes, smells hot or shows a brown mark. On 27-inch-deep wall hoods the heat lamps run far hotter than the lighting, and Wolf says to let them cool before anyone touches a bulb.

Should I switch the whole hood over to LED bulbs?

Wolf lists a dimmable GU10 LED for its pro hoods, so it is a fair choice, but on an older hood it may only light on High. Wolf also shows its GU10 halogen as discontinued.
