A neighbourhood of associations

The city places North Issaquah mostly on the valley floor, north of I-90, and describes it through its developments: Overdale Park, Rivenwood, Summerhill Village and University House among them, alongside other condo and townhome communities that each keep their own HOA. Shops are a few minutes away, on foot for some. For a range or hood repair the associations matter, because changes to the outside of a townhome block usually need their say.

Townhouse kitchens and the duct problem

With neighbours on both sides, a townhouse hood rarely gets a straight shot outdoors. Its duct turns through the floor framing toward a front or back wall, and each bend counts against it. The cap on the outside wall is part of the building’s face, so anything beyond clearing it — a different style, a new opening — goes to the association before it goes to a contractor. And Wolf wants each hood on its own grounded supply, advising against GFCI protection on indoor hoods because it can interrupt them; a hood that stops on its own after a kitchen update is worth checking against the circuit it is on.
